OpenAI has stopped all new ChatGPT Plus registrations, meaning unless you already have a paid account, you can’t access any of the premium aspects of the platform.

This includes being able to create your own GPT - if you wanted to, sorry, you’ll have to wait until Sam Altman gives the thumbs up again. ChatGPT Plus also gives access to GPT 4 as well as DALL-E, advanced data analysis and much more.

Basically, if you use ChatGPT regularly, and don’t have a Plus subscription, you’re missing out big time. But now you’ll have to wait!

OpenAI says the pause is because of incredibly high demand for GPTs, which their servers can’t handle.

And Mr Altman isn’t lying - since the event was held on 6 November, there have been six days of outages, according to OpenAI’s official status tracker, including one major outage that took ChatGPT offline for almost two hours. You may have noticed ChatGPT being a little sluggish recently!

The UK government has decided it will NOT regulate AI… for now.

The UK’s first minister for AI and intellectual property, Viscount Jonathan Camrose, said at a Financial Times conference on Thursday that there would be no UK law on AI “in the short term” because the government was concerned that heavy-handed regulation could curb industry growth.

 This comes despite the fact the EU, USA and China introducing measures.

In a separate statement published on Thursday, the government confirmed that it did not intend to legislate the domestic AI sector in the immediate future.

“As we have done throughout, we will develop our approach in close consultation with industry and civil society, maintaining a pro-innovation approach,” it said.
