🇬🇧 BBC LAYS OUT AI POSITION!

The BBC, the world’s largest public broadcaster and pride of Brits everywhere, has laid out principles it plans to follow as it evaluates the use of generative AI, including for research and production of journalism, archives, and personalised experiences.

The corporation has laid out three key principles.

The three guiding principles are:

The BBC will always act in the public’s best interests.
They will prioritise talent and creativity by respecting the rights of artists.
They will be open and transparent about AI-made output.

The BBC said it will work with tech companies, other media organizations and regulators to safely develop generative AI and focus on maintaining trust in the news industry.

This is a pretty huge move from the BBC, and other broadcasters will surely follow suit in their responses to AI.

Snapchat could be in big trouble after a watchdog issued an enforcement over its AI chatbot.

The company could face a fine of millions of pounds after the UK data watchdog issued it with a preliminary notice over the alleged failure to assess privacy risks its artificial intelligence chatbot may pose to users - in particular children.

Why is this such a big deal? Well, Snapchat has 21 million monthly active users in the UK and market research company Insider Intelligence estimates that 48% of users are aged 24 or under. About 18% of UK users are aged 12 to 17.

If a final enforcement notice is issued, Snap will be forced to stop processing data in connection with My AI, meaning it will have to be blocked for UK users until the company carries out a risk assessment of the service.
