Apple’s most useful upgrade might still flop

Apple’s next Siri upgrade could be its most useful yet (finally???).

A new App Intents system aims to let you run apps entirely by voice, from editing a photo to adding items to a basket, and will power upcoming devices like a smart display and tabletop robot.

Accuracy is still a concern, so Apple is testing with select apps before a wider launch.

Tim Cook has also pledged to make all iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass in the US, though much of the production process will remain overseas.

TL;DR

  • Siri voice control could be a turning point for Apple, if it works.

  • US-made glass is more symbolic than operational.

  • Meta keeps poaching Apple’s AI talent.

Glass half full… of PR

The move followed a meeting with Donald Trump, complete with a gold-glass gift, and came alongside news of tariff exemptions.

iOS 26 and Liquid Glass 1.0 are nearly ready, with smoother performance and small design tweaks.

Meanwhile, Meta has hired a fifth AI engineer from Apple’s models team, adding to a growing talent exodus.

Voice control sounds cute until Siri buys 63 candles by accident.
