Apple Intelligence launches
+ AI is helping to design some amazing jewellery
Sir Ian McKellen’s great-great-grandfather helped invent the weekend. That’s right, Gandalf’s ancestor was part of the movement that gave us our beloved Saturday-Sunday break. Imagine having a legacy that lets the world clock out early on Fridays — true hero status.
What’s in store:
Apple Intelligence changes the game — and keeps your data safe.
From idea to belong — Arcade’s spin on Custom jewellery.

APPLE
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, adding tools to make everyday tasks easier, all while keeping user data private.
The free update, through iOS 18.1, iPad 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, uses Apple’s hardware to deliver smarter, more personal assistance.
However, the update is not available in the EU, due to those pesky privacy laws. Apple is promising a roll out in 2025 for EU regions.
Apple Intelligence tailors support to users by helping with writing, organising notifications, and offering a more natural Siri experience.
With on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, data stays secure, even when using cloud services.
These new tools are Apple’s approach to privacy-first AI, with more features set to roll out soon.
"Apple Intelligence is built on years of AI innovation," said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. "It brings users a simple, secure personal intelligence system that only Apple can offer, to make daily tasks easier."
“Apple Intelligence unlocks useful new abilities across iPhone, iPad, and Mac,” added Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior VP of Software Engineering.
From refined writing tools to more intuitive notifications and a smarter Siri, it’s all designed with privacy in mind.
Here’s what to expect with this update:
Easily rewrite, proofread, and summarise across apps like Mail and Messages, with tone adjustments for professional, friendly, or concise options.
Siri now handles text and voice smoothly, maintaining context for ongoing tasks and providing answers on Apple features.
Clean up unwanted items in items in photos, search by description, and create personalised movie memories.
A clean-up for your pics, not your room
Apple Intelligence also helps users manage emails and notifications.
Priority Messages puts urgent emails at the top, while “Summarise” gives a quick view of long threads.
Smart Reply suggests responses for detected questions.
Coming in December are more features, such as expanded writing tools and Genmoji creation letting users customise emojis with descriptions or photos.
New Camera Control on the iPhone 16 will also help users learn about places and objects in real-time, with options for language translation and ChatGPT’s problem-solving.
Apple places privacy at the centre of Apple Intelligence.
On-device processing secures data, and Private Cloud Compute adds computing power without sacrificing privacy.
ChatGPT support in Siri and Writing Tools is optional and available without an account.
All requests stay private, with IP addresses hidden and no data stored by Apple.
It’s finally here. Was it worth the wait?

That’s Weird…
The Aliens of Emilcin
In 1978, a Polish farmer named Jan Wolski claimed he met aliens while on his horse-drawn wagon. According to him, two green-skinned beings with finned fingers hopped onto his wagon and led him to their hovering “bus” where they examined and offered some strange honey-like food (which he politely declined).
The story gained a lot of attention, especially when ufologist Zdzisław Blania promoted it heavily, even getting a psychologist to vouch for Wolski's sanity. Over the years, the wale of Wolski’s friendly alien visit became a sensation in Poland, inspiring a memorial drawing believers each May to the village of Emlicin.
Some say it was a communist distraction; others think it was just a prank. Whether it was real or not, this has left Poland with its very own Roswell —complete with sceptics, believers and an eternal “What really happened?”.
AI INNOVATION
Mariam Naficy, founder of Eve and Minted, has launched a new venture, Arcade AI, a marketplace that lets users, or “Dreamers,” design their own jewellery.
Launched in beta this September, Arcade AI allows users to create designs by typing ideas or uploading images.
The platform’s AI that generates a variety of jewellery options to choose from.
Once a design is selected, an artisan crafts the piece in materials like gold, silver and various gemstones.
While the AI provides a smooth design experience, it has some limits.
For example, complex designs may need manual adjustments.
To upgrade user experience, Arcade plans to improve its “magic editor,” allowing users to edit elements with more control, like moving parts of a design.
Jewellery costs vary, starting, starting around $100 for simpler designs, while more complex pieces can exceed $1,000. Shipping fees range from $10 to $30.
Arcade also offers users a creative outlet, allowing them to display designs on personal “Dream Boards” even if they don’t make a purchase.
Here’s what you should know:
Arcade AI combines user-designed jewellery with expert craftsmanship, providing a hands-on creative experience.
Price ranges from around $100, with delivery fees of $10 to $30; the whole process takes about two weeks.
Planned updates include more editing tools and possible partnerships with brands, as well as expansions into other products like accessories and apparel.
Dream, design and wear
Arcade’s concept has attracted major investment from figures like Ashton Kutcher and Reid Hoffman.
With plans to broaden its product range, Arcade is setting the stage to be a go-to platform for user-driven design.
It’s giving “artsy” with a digital twist.
