📕 AMAZON’S NEW AI RULES
Amazon has set out some major new rules for those publishing on the platform.
The company announced the new rules on its Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) forum on Wednesday. It said in a statement:
“Beginning today, when you publish a new title or make edits to and republish an existing title through KDP, you will be asked whether your content is AI-generated.”
Amazon also added a new section to its content guidelines focused on AI, which now includes definitions of “AI-generated” and “AI-assisted” content and states that sellers are not required to disclose when content is AI-assisted.
AI-generated content is defined by the company as “text, images or translations created by an AI-based tool. You know the ones.
It remains to be seen if this is simply an honour system - unless Amazon can start checking for AI content, people are simply going to lie - right?
AI-assisted content is classified as that created by authors and sellers themselves but where AI tools are used to “edit, refine, error-check, or otherwise improve.
So, even using AI to proofread isn’t allowed…?
Has Amazon gone too far?

Yes, I just did your homework for you.

🚗 SELF-DRIVING CARS GET AI BOOST!
A new AI model has been able to speed up computer vision - in other words, the tech behind self-driving cars.
Traditionally a very intensive computing process, researchers from MIT, the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, and elsewhere have developed a more efficient computer vision model that vastly reduces the computational complexity of this task.
Their model can perform semantic segmentation accurately in real-time on a device with limited hardware resources, such as the onboard computers that enable an autonomous vehicle to make split-second decisions. In other words, they’ve made it better for even already-existing cars.
It performs up to nine times faster than the previous model. Is this going to be rolled out in every self-driving car eventually? It looks like it! About time some of the recent AI advances collided with the world of self-driving cars!
