Amazon vs Google: The battle of the AI video tools

GOOGLE

Google has launched two new AI tools, Veo and Imagen 3, on its Vertex AI platform.

These tools bring advanced video and image generation capabilities to businesses, particularly in marketing and advertising.

Veo is in private preview, while Imagen 3 will be available to all users next week. Imagen 3 also offers features to fine-tune images to suit specific needs.

What makes Veo and Imagen 3 stand out?

  • Veo: Creates high-quality, cinematic videos from text or image prompts, ensuring smooth movement frame by frame.

  • Imagen 3: Generates realistic images with tools for upscaling, inpainting, and customising visuals to match branding.

  • Both models help teams produce professional content faster, reducing costs and speeding up creative processes.

Veo is the moment

These features simplify how businesses create and refine visual content.

Google’s Vertex AI platform integrates these tools to provide businesses with a powerful set of AI applications.

Imagen 3 is ideal for creating product images and social media content, while Veo adds video capabilities, making it easier and quicker to develop ideas and cut production costs.

Early adopters like Agoda and Mondelez International already benefit from these models, producing ads more efficiently.

Warren Barkley, Senior Director of Product Management at Google, highlighted that both models come with safeguards like digital watermarking and content moderation to minimise risks linked to generative AI.

Google is the first major cloud provider to offer large-scale video generation with Veo.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has also introduced Nova Reel, which creates short, high-quality videos, available through its Amazon Bedrock service.

Microsoft currently lacks a video generation tool but may catch up as OpenAI’s Sora model becomes available.

With these tools, Google is setting a new standard in AI, helping businesses create impactful visual content quickly and efficiently.
