Sam Altman is officially OUT. The AI and tech world is in shock. But what will this mean for AI going forward? Are the OpenAI products we love about to change?
First of all, what does it mean for OpenAI? Well, in the short term, disorder and confusion. With Sam Altman and Greg Brockman making up 2/6 board members, it shows the other 4 members got together behind their backs and made the decision.
Supposedly, not even Microsoft, which owns a 49% stake in the company, knew about the move.

This is sure to raise eyebrows amongst employees, with the direction of the company now unclear.
OpenAI is currently trying to raise funds, but this will surely make investors second guess their investments.
Sam Altman is always purportedly looking to start a new AI venture. Could this be yet another entrant to the AI arms race?

💀 META KILLS RESPONSIBLE AI TEAM
Meta is apparently not that concerned about responsible AI, as they have closed down their responsible AI team.
The Responsible AI (RAI) team has been shuttered as Meta puts more of its resources into generative artificial intelligence, according to a report from The Information.
According to the report, most RAI members will move to the company’s generative AI product team, while others will work on Meta’s AI infrastructure.
The company regularly says it wants to develop AI responsibly and even has a page devoted to the promise, where the company lists its “pillars of responsible AI,” including accountability, transparency, safety, privacy, and more. Is that all up in smoke?
Probably not, but it is a curious move. It looks like speeding up on AI is more important than doing it responsibly, for now at least.
Meta claims they “continue to prioritize and invest in safe and responsible AI development.” - we’ll see about that.
