AI has the power to make video games “faster, cheaper and better” according to the CEO of Unity.
John Riccitiello says that games currently takes hundreds of individuals many years to create all of the content, including art and music, but AI can cut this down 5-10x.
AI can streamline the entire process and completely automate systems such as lighting, lightening the workload of the game designers. He is also positive on the idea that AI will reduce jobs - he disagrees.
Rather than leading to job losses, Riccitiello said he believes it would supercharge the industry and help create the same kinds of high quality AAA gaming titles at a much faster rate.
This all sounds great to me. Give me a big open world AI powered game that I can explore over and over!

The artificial intelligence boom is a new industrial revolution, says ex UK PM Tony Blair.
In a recent interview with Sky News, Blair said that:
"I think it is on a par with the 19th-century Industrial Revolution, I think it already was, but generative AI has given it a further push forward."
He said that the technology had potential to be both very good and very bad. Sir Tony emphasised that it will be transformative in healthcare, education and productivity, but warned on things like deepfakes and misinformation. Nothing new there.
"Just as that moment changed humanity, changed the state, this moment and generative AI will do that too."
