Would you let an AI teddy bear tell stories to your children?
According to the world's biggest toy maker, they're coming soon.
Vtech's Alan Wong has stated toys kitted out with Generative AI will be available in 2028. They will be able to talk to your little ones and tell them personalised stories.
You would "teach" the teddy your kid's name, school, teachers and friends. Allowing the teddy to ask personalised questions and become a "friend" to your child. Alan suggested we need to "sort out" privacy issues before a potential rollout.
This has got Black Mirror written all over it!
In all seriousness, we probably won't see child-murdering teddy bears. But, what does this mean for our kid's development? What happens when the teddy, is a better friend than any human could be?
I am not qualified to pick apart the potential psychological implications of that. But it draws comparisons to the Covid pandemic, where small children were locked up and not seeing other kids in person.
I'm really not sure this is a good idea.

This model hopes to save moderators 60% of their time!
