πŸ‘½ AI TO TALK TO ALIENS BEFORE HUMANS?

Avi Loeb, Harvard Astronomer predicts that aliens will speak to AI, long before it speaks to humans.

His theory is based on the idea that aliens are out there, but just really far away.

"My expectation from interstellar travel is that it's best done with electronic gadgets and devices rather than with biological creatures because the journey takes a long time."

He elaborates, explaining that it will take 50,000 years to reach even the nearest star. AI has the "patience" for that trip, humans don't.

Loeb is currently on a trip to the pacific ocean, searching for the first interstellar meteorite. The meteorite which crashed near Papua New Guinea in 2014, is the first to originate from outside the Earth's solar system.

He is working to determine if the object was a craft from an extraterrestrial civilization!

πŸ˜‚Β TWO-THIRDS OF KIDS USE AI FOR HOMEWORK

I have to admit it, I laughed out loud when I saw this news. I was terrible at doing homework, and if I was still in school I would definitely be using ChatGPT.

1000 students in the UK were surveyed for these results, so admittedly not the biggest pool! But the results are eyewatering. Also, 1 in 10 teachers surveyed, admitted they had no way of knowing (I bet the true number is a bit higher)!

Okay, so is this a bad thing?

Firstly, we have to question the potential damage this is having on kids. As much as homework sucks, it is part of modern human development. Important skills get nurtured, such as problem-solving and critical thinking. If this is all outsourced to AI, what is the point?

On the other hand, these kids are going to have a great understanding of AI tools.

You're an AI fan, right? You must be if you signed up for this newsletter. So, we can all appreciate how big an industry this is going to be. Having a generation of kids coming to be future prompt engineers sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
