💦 AI SPERM COUNTING?!
No, we aren’t joking. AI is being used to analyse sperm - and it’s really good at it.
A new AI tool is being used to assess infertile men’s sperm for defects. The research was conducted to test if AI could speed up the treatment process for men who do not have sperm in their semen.
It currently takes humans 6 hours to extract and analyse the sperm, but the AI is capable of doing it by just analysing images - taking just SECONDS to conclude the number of sperm, and with more accuracy than the doctors.
It’s still just a proof of concept for now, but clinical trials are expected to follow.
Infertility studies will become increasingly relevant - did you know the average human sperm count has halved in the last 40 years? It looks like AI can help solve this crisis.

🤔 GOOGLE IN TALKS WITH EU OVER AI REGS
Google has held “productive” talks with EU regulators about AI, says the company’s head of cloud computing, Thomas Kurian.
The talks have been about how Google and other companies can build AI safely and responsibly. Google is supposedly working hard to create tools that will help spot AI content to ease fears about the propagation of AI and copyright.
“We’re having productive conversations with the EU government. Because we do want to find a path forward,” Kurian said.
“These technologies have risk, but they also have enormous capability that generate true value for people.”
We all eagerly await the final details of the EU regulation…
