AI STARTUPS

Sean Ammirati, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, has been teaching graduate students how to start their own businesses for over a decade.

This year, his students made surprising progress in their own start-up projects, all thanks to Gen AI.

Ammirati had encouraged his students to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot and FlowiseAI for the first time in their start-up processes.

The results were so impressive that venture capitalists showed interest in the businesses these students built in just one semester.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Gen AI speeds up start-up development by helping with coding, marketing and legal tasks.

  • New and small businesses are especially drawn to AI for its wide range of uses and affordability.

  • The full economic impact of AI is still unfolding, but it shows potential for quicker and more stable growth.

Make a wish, with AI

Gen AI is becoming a powerful tool for entrepreneurs who know how to leverage it.

Whether it’s for coding, marketing strategies, or understanding legal documents, AI is helping start-ups move faster, work with efficiency, and innovate on a larger scale.

This technology is allowing businesses to scale without the traditional costs associated.

While AI is proving to be a game-changing element for many start-ups, it’s still in its early days.

It is expected to have a wider economic impact in the near future, and all the signs look promising.

As AI tools become more common in business, they’re helping a lot of entrepreneurs turn ideas into reality faster than was possible before.

Weird AI

Two Chatty Bots

In 2011, Cornell University students set up a conversation between two Cleverbot AIs, that resulted in a viral YouTube video.

The chat, which began with mere greetings, quickly turned into an amusing debate on topics such as identity and religion, with the two bots making quirky comments like “I am a unicorn”.

The video gained millions of views, sparking curiosity in further AI interactions, and showed the interesting and often humorous nature of AI-driven conversations.

AI EDUCATION

The South Korean government is planning to introduce tablets with AI-powered textbooks in classrooms next year, aiming to cover all subjects (except music, art, physical education and ethics) by 2028.

Despite these plans, many parents are concerned about the impact of these tools on their children’s development.

Here’s what their plan holds:

  • AI textbooks will be tailored to match students’ learning speeds.

  • Teachers will track progress through specific dashboards.

  • Over 500,000 parents have petitioned for a focus on student well-being over new technology.

Next-gen textbooks

Lee Sun-youn, a mother of two, shared her worries with The Financial Times, stating that excessive use of digital devices might harm children’s brain development, concentration and problem-solving skills.

She added that her children already spend too much time on smartphones and tablets, which only deepens her concerns.
