News Corp is diving into negotiations with AI companies to try and solve the copyright issues of training AI models on their news.

Robert Thomson, the big boss, says they’d rather talk it out than sue.

A compromise

Thomson's thinks AI companies should be paying to access this content.

News Corp is already deep into talks with the AI big shots.

They're hoping to set some rules that'll help journalists and keep the AI game fair.

Thomson gave special praise to OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, in his remarks.

Now, not all publishers are handling AI the same way.

It’s not all smooth sailing

The Guardian, on the other hand, has stopped OpenAI from using its content.

Some are making deals, like the Associated Press has with the ChatGPT creators.

Others, like The New York Times, are taking legal action for a piece of the pie.

News Corp's got its eyes on the future.

They see AI-produced content as inevitable and don’t want to miss out

AND, they're making serious money from digital streaming now, shifting away from the old print days.

In the last quarter of 2023, News Corp's revenue increased by 3%, hitting $2.6 billion.

Thomson is feeling optimistic about the shift to digital and subscription models.
