AI is your new ad agency

Meta is gearing up to let AI take over the entire ad-making process on Facebook and Instagram by the end of next year.

Right now, brands can use a few AI tools to tweak existing ads, but Meta wants to go much further.

Soon, businesses will be able to upload a product image, set a budget, and let AI handle the rest: creating visuals, writing copy, and selecting the best target audience.

It’s a big part of Meta’s broader plan.

Ads brought in over 97% of its revenue in 2024, and those profits are what fund its massive AI investments.

According to Zuckerberg, the goal is simple: a business tells Meta what it wants to achieve, how much it’s willing to spend, and AI handles the rest.

He’s calling it a total rethink of how advertising works.

Smaller brands, in particular, could gain a lot. With limited resources and no big creative teams, AI-generated ads offer a shortcut.

These ads will also adapt to who’s seeing them, showing a snowy mountain scene to one user and a city drive to another, all based on location.

Still, not everyone’s sold.

Bigger brands are wary of giving Meta even more control and worry that AI-made ads won’t feel as polished.

And while the tech is improving, it’s not always perfect; sometimes, the results are messy and fixing them takes extra time.

Three things to note:

  • Meta wants AI to handle ad creation from start to finish by 2026.

  • Ads will adjust in real time, depending on where and how people see them.

  • Some brands are still unsure about fully trusting AI with their creative work.

Hello, hyper-targeting

Meta’s tools also need a lot of computing power and customised AI models for each brand.

Other companies are moving fast too.

Tools like Midjourney and DALL·E are already being used to make digital ads, and Meta is exploring ways to bring them onto its platform.

Can’t wait for an AI to sell me socks based on my aura.
