🐈 AI CAN UNDERSTAND CATS!?

AI can help us understand cats! Soon, you may know exactly what your feline friend is after, thanks to the power of AI.

Scientists are turning to AI to unpick the meanings behind the vocal and physical cues of a host of animals, including cats.

Scientists have figured out cats have 276 facial expressions when interacting with other cats, and use completely different ones when interacting with humans.

We might be able to understand this soon.

AI is now being used to try and classify these expressions and understand their emotional states.

As well as offering us new ways to understand what our pets are trying to communicate, AI could be used for animal welfare, for example, to screen the faces of cows for signs of pain as they troop in for milking.

So, soon you might have an app that can translate your cat to you. Maybe Siri will be able to talk to your cat for you!?

Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era

Our Final Invention by James Barrat delves into the existential risks associated with the advancement of AI. Barrat's work goes beyond highlighting potential perils; it provides a comprehensive exploration of the ethical, societal, and technological dimensions surrounding the creation of superintelligent AI.

🥊 DEEPMIND FOUNDER ATTACKS MUSK!

Mustafa Suleyman, the CEO of Inflection AI and co-founder of Google’s DeepMind, had some strong words for Elon Musk, going on the attack and accusing him of not being an “AI scientist” at all.

Suleyman disagreed with Musk’s words, where he claimed AI was an existential risk for humanity and could lead to the end of humanity.

Suleyman responded saying:

“This is why we need an impartial, independent assessment of the trajectory of this technology. He’s not an AI scientist. He owns a small AI company. He has many other companies. His expertise is more in space and cars.”

Strong words indeed!
