Adobe has just rolled out version 25.2 of Premiere Pro, bringing several AI tools out of beta and into full release.
The aim is to make video editing quicker and a bit less of a headache.
The headline feature is Generative Extend, which lets you stretch clips by up to two seconds, handy for smoothing transitions or fixing awkward movements without needing a reshoot.
It supports 4K and can also extend background sounds, like ambient noise, for up to 10 seconds. It won’t touch speech or music, though.
Right now, Generative Extend is free to use, but not forever. Adobe plans to switch it over to a Firefly credit system.
These credits come with Creative Cloud plans (from 25 to 1,000 credits a month), or you can buy more, starting at $10 for 2,000 credits.
The final cost for using Generative Extend will depend on video resolution, format, and frame rate.
Other new tools include:
AI search panel helps you find clips fast by typing in descriptions like “hands chopping vegetables,” using object and location recognition.
Premiere color management now converts log and raw files into SDR or HDR automatically, so no LUTs are needed.
AI caption translation that supports 27 languages and lets you show multiple caption tracks at once while editing.
Performance has also been boosted across macOS and Windows.
The update arrives alongside After Effects 25.2, which adds HDR support, improved animation tools, 3D model compatibility, and a smarter preview playback system that makes longer compositions easier to handle.
This update made me feel like a genius with zero effort.
