APPLE
Apple is set to revamp Siri with advanced AI, allowing users to control individual app functions using voice commands, as Apple’s AI strategy slowly comes into focus ahead of WWDC.
This upgrade, based on large language models, is a key part of Apple’s new AI strategy, is to be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference on 10 June.
What you should know:
Siri will manage all app features with advanced AI.
AI capabilities will be split between device and cloud processing.
Integration with OpenAI and potential future plans with Google's technologies.
Siri’s superpowers
Siri will be able to manage all app features, enabling tasks like moving notes, sending emails, and summarising articles.
AI capabilities will be divided between processing on the device for basic tasks and cloud computing for more advanced functions.
Integration with OpenAI’s chatbot and potential use of Google’s Gemini software are also in the works.
Initially, Siri will handle single commands but will later chain multiple tasks together.
For example, summarising a meeting and texting it to a colleague in one go.
Privacy concerns are being addressed by on-device processing for basic tasks and secure handling of cloud-based functions.
Apple aims to revive Siri, originally launched in 2011, to compete with Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant.
Dreaming of the day it won’t say “Sorry, I can’t do that”.
