2024 ELECTIONS
It’s a big year for elections, and we all know what that means.
AI fakery is going to flood social media to trick us.
But OpenAI has unveiled a big plan to try and fight the inevitable disinformation.
New rules for politics
OpenAI says they are trying to “prevent abuse, provide transparency on AI-generated content, and improve access to accurate voting information.”
Here’s the lowdown on the new policies:
ChatGPT, DALL-E, and other OpenAI tool users and makers are now forbidden from using OpenAI’s tools to impersonate candidates or local governments.
Users cannot use OpenAI’s tools for campaigns or lobbying.
Users are not permitted to use OpenAI tools to discourage voting or misrepresent the voting process.
A new way to tag AI images
OpenAI also plans to incorporate the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity’s digital credentials into images generated by DALL-E.
The digital credential system would encode images with a tag of sorts, effectively making it far simpler to know when you’re looking at an AI image.
Microsoft, Amazon, Getty Images and others are also signing up for this.

AI FAIL
Delivery firm DPD have been embarrassed after their AI chatbot swore at a customer, amongst other things.
DPD went so far as to disable the bot afterwards.
Bad bot…
Ashley Beauchamp got the bot to swear at him by asking, and even got it to write a poem about why DPD was so bad! Take a look…
Parcel delivery firm DPD have replaced their customer service chat with an AI robot thing. It’s utterly useless at answering any queries, and when asked, it happily produced a poem about how terrible they are as a company. It also swore at me. 😂

DPD said it had disabled the part of the chatbot that was responsible.
"We have operated an AI element within the chat successfully for a number of years, an error occurred after a system update yesterday. The AI element was immediately disabled and is currently being updated."
Updated = “quick, write a new prompt!”
Our View:
I love it - I think more companies should embrace these AI chatbots rather than the generic boring ones we are all so desperate to bypass!
